After a tribute from excelsior choirs, and Excelsior’s color guard doing the star spangled
banner, which was a lovely tribute. The football got started with their game against Riverside
Prep High school.
Kickoff was at precisely 11:03 am, and we spent the majority of the quarter in defense. Riverside prep had gotten the ball and #20 got an excellent lift and return type tackle, which stopped riverside prep from getting a score. In the end riverside prep got two touchdowns making the final score 0-13. Second quarter. In this quarter it almost seemed as though there was some sort of bias, we were always called foul, often times for no good reason. We made an absolutely amazing throw that would have given us a lot more yards and a potential touchdown, but riverside prep intercepted the ball. #33 caught a punt from the other team and ran 30 yards and was 10 yards from a touchdown. Then #12 nearly made a touchdown but he was blocked by his own team. We were able to kick the ball in for 3 points, but then the silver knights got a touchdown making the score 3-19. While #33 was going head to head with this RP kid when the whistle blew the RP kid ripped #33s helmet off, which was just plain rude. Riverside got another touchdown shortly after.
Then it was halftime, which was very important, after all it was time for the homecoming court to be revealed!
For freshmen princess was miss Adrianna Lugo.
For freshmen prince, Preston Patterson.
For sophomore princess was Taylor Zuniga.
For sophomore prince was Nathan Creason.
For junior princess was Randi Conner.
For junior prince was Eddie Roman.
They revealed that they would be announcing the king and queen later that night at the
homecoming dance. For queen it was either Miah Santiago, or Kaylee Stromsodt. For king it was either Tennyson Tibetts, or Kobe Matthews.
Third quarter. #72 got an excellent tackle on RP stopping them from getting more yards.
Mean while there was a fight going on in the excelsior bleachers, nothing to physical just
yelling, people were probably getting mad at the referees for always calling in favor of RP.
Luckily our amazing security guards were there and quickly calmed everything down. The score was 3-46, and by the end of the fourth quarter the score was 3-53. A lose? Sure. But this game versus the first one of the season was vastly different, everyone was much more experienced this time around.
Later that night at the homecoming dance, the atmosphere was carefree, and the
announcements for king and queen were soon to be made. King ended up being none other
than Kobe Mathews, and Queen ended up being the beautiful Miah Santiago.
