Athletics Report for the week of August 21st-31st
Volleyball Game
On August 27 we went against Temecula Prep’s patriots, which is ironic considering just last week we went against another set of patriots. This was a relatively short game that took precisely one hour and one minute. They took the win, we lost 3-0.
The first set started 6:31 on the dot. This set was seriously intense. At times the ball would not even drop to floor and it would just go back and forth for a minute at a time! #1 Grace Baik was on it with her spikes, her serves, and her saves. I was completely convinced that the ball was going to be out. It was hit out of bounds and our team almost lost the point, but Grace swooped in and did the single most amazing save of the game. I was genuinely unsure who was going to win this set. It really could have gone either way, up until the end where the patriots began to pick up speed, and ended up taking the win.
In the second set, we started off strong with the first couple points, and we continued to take a good strong lead. #8 Kyra made some amazing saves, was always consistent with her spikes, and was an incredible team player.Unfortunately, right at the end Temecula gained speed and in a matter of minutes took the lead, and eventually the win.
We got the first point in the third set, only for Temecula to very quickly take the lead. Things were going more in Temecula’s favor but once it was #1 Grace’s turn to serve we picked up speed again. With nearly every serve she hit Temecula was unable to return it. Ultimately Temecula won 3-0. Better luck next time Eagles!
